Happy Monday! This week we will be switching gears in math from multiplication to division. Students will be introduced to the concept of division through repeated subtraction, equal groups, and finding the missing multiplication fact. You can practice at home by asking your student 5 times what is 30? (6) and then have them repeat the fact back as a division problem (30 divided by 5 is 6).
In social studies we are focusing on landforms of Texas. We will be learning the different types of landforms and making some great foldables to help us learn. We are also going to study how humans change the land around us.
Language arts is packed this week as we talk about inferring using the text, pictures, and our background knowledge to better understand the story. We all infer every time we read without realizing it, now we will know exactly what we are doing and why. We are also starting our rough drafts of our imaginative stories. I can't wait to see what all of these amazing students come up with!
Our spelling pattern this week is the "Y rule". When you have a word that ends in y, and has a consonant right before the y, you drop the y and add an i before adding the suffix. The exception to the rule is if the suffix starts with an i. Example: supply--> supplier or supply-->supplying.
